Yesterday was Day 1 of your sneak peek at my upcoming release The Fragrance of Violets.
Here’s Day 2! (Don’t worry; if you missed Day 1—the beginning of the scene—you can go back to yesterday’s blog.)
Excerpt – Day Two
And what did she do when Rick tried to talk to her? She ran away. You are such a coward, girl. At least she’d talked with Rick’s fiancée. She seemed sweet.
How would they get through the next several months until the wedding? Could she confine her interactions to Rainbow? She groaned. As usual, Irina appeared more in control of the nuptials than Rainbow or her mother. And if she understood Heather’s parting comments, Nason was footing the bill.
Maybe she should gather her courage and initiate meeting him. Get this over with now. Perhaps he would apologize like in her daydreams. Her body continued to shake, and she sat on the edge of the toilet seat, teetering a little. Don’t fall in. That’s all you’d need to make the day complete. Why didn’t these toilets have lids anyway?
It was coming. She could feel it. Sweat pooled on her lower back. A dizzy haze floated through her mind, and her stomach churned. Remember the steps. Breathe through your mouth, feeling the air slowly fill your chest and belly and then slowly leave them again. She breathed in for a count of four, held for a second, and then breathed out for a count of four.
What happens next? A full-blown anxiety attack? Check back tomorrow.
