Here’s Day 4! (Don’t worry; if you missed previous days you can go back to Day One, Day Two and Day Three.)
Excerpt – Day Four
“Morning?” She heard the tremor in her own voice and cleared her throat. “I was planning to head home now. Besides, I, well…” That was Heather’s job on this contract, not hers. How to say that without sounding insubordinate? Sounding like a rebel? “You sure you trust me doing that on your contract?”
The other woman’s expression turned from haughty to confused and back to haughty again. “Yes. But you can have until two p.m. tomorrow. No later.” With a dismissive wave, she continued beyond Fiona’s cubicle, dragging her rolling briefcase toward the hallway door.
Ha. Fiona sniffed. At least someone got to be on her way home.
Lottie sidled up and dropped into the empty chair in Fiona’s cubicle. “What is it? You look like death warmed over.”
Taking a deep breath, she relayed the CliffsNotes version of the afternoon’s events. “I’ll tell you more later. I’ve gotta go home before I can’t drag myself up that hill.”
Lottie waggled her eyebrows, patted her smooth up do, and stood. “I can’t believe this. They just picked this hotel. And Heather just needed you for their site visit. Does this mean you’re permanently part of their sales team now?”
“Apparently. Heather assigned me to complete the sales order. By tomorrow. But I’m too tired to stay tonight.”
“Oh, bother. Okay. Head home. I’ve got another hour’s work at least. Why don’t you order us a pizza?”
How will Fiona deal with Nason’s return and a wedding? Check back tomorrow.
