Messina
Messina, Book 1 of The Casa Bella Chronicles, by author Liz Galvano, drops the reader into Sicily and the aftermath of the 1908 earthquake that devastated the old-world town of Messina. We watch as an American female physician (almost unheard of and frowned upon in Italian culture) and a Sicilian physician work to save as many survivors as possible. The rich descriptions depict the horror of the struggle on the one hand and the lushness of the Sicilian countryside on the other. Filled with strong, flawed characters, the novel immerses us in the struggle, triumph, Sicilian culture, medical breakthroughs, prejudice, acceptance, God’s truth, and love. I’m Italian and love reading about the Italian/Sicilian culture woven throughout. I loved this hard to put down, multi-layered story.
And it’s not over! Book 2, Anna Lucia, is available and Book 3, The Iron Door, will be available soon.
Anna Lucia
Book 2 of The Casa Bella Chronicles, Anna Lucia, by author Liz Glavano continues the love story of Lucy and Giovanni but focuses on the tale of Giovanni’s Uncle Vincenzo and Lucy’s Aunt Lucinda. It’s another beautiful love story, but so much more. The high-tension and rich descriptions continue from book one. Someone’s after the newly married Vincenzo and Lucinda (renamed Anna Lucia by the family) which takes place mostly in Rome where we see the fascinating city in the early 20th Century. Sword fights, gun battles, horses racing to save the day, family relationships, and tension. It’s all here. I can’t wait for book three in the series hopefully later in 2022.
I’m tickled pink that you loved these stories! Grazie mille! So glad we’ve become acquainted and hope to have many more years of friendship. From one Italiana to another, “Noi non possiamo avere una vita perfetta senza amici.” (Dante Alighieri) We can’t have a perfect life without friends.
Amen, sister! Grazie!
