I’m eager to tell you all about Seashells Tell No Tales and author Amanda Tru. But, first, fellow series authors are joining in the fun by sharing a few personal stories in honor of the main characters.
In Seashells Tell No Tales, Faith has a fear of heights—and with good reason.
Let me take you back to year two of that dreaded period that shall remain nameless.
Each night, I writhed in itchy uncomfortableness on my bed, thinking mosquitos were rampant. Insect bites create a terrible reaction in my body, and they seem to love my blood.
But pest control said mosquitos weren’t active now, and they found none near our home. All I knew was that something was feasting on me. Upon further investigation, they discovered we were infested with—I can barely say or write this—bed bugs! I had gone more than 70 years without meeting one, and I was totally floored.
Remember when I said we were in the middle of isolation? How could we have brought these dreaded creatures into our home? (Lord, did you really have to create them?) The pest guy estimated they had been with us for five to seven months. I almost fainted. We hadn’t been anywhere. No one had visited our home. Oh, wait. We finally realized we had rented an RV about five months previous so we could go “isolation” camping. Some isolation.
Once I learned I was lying down with bugs, I refused to sleep at home until they were eradicated. After wrapping and sealing all our digestible items (including what was in our refrigerators), a ten-day stay in a hotel, and thousands of dollars later, we were told the critters were gone. To prevent infesting others, we were advised not to get rid of anything until after treatment. As soon as possible, we got rid of an old couch, so at least we got a new couch out of the ordeal.
For months, even occasionally three years later, I had the distinct feeling they had returned. My skin crawled. Each time I called out pest control, they found no sign of creepy crawlies. My doctor said I had PTSD from the traumatic experience, leaving me with a real phobia. Just writing about them gives me the creeps.
While I don’t have a fear of heights, I identify with Faith’s fear. Do you have a phobia of something? Heights, bugs, politicians?
Enough about phobias, let’s talk about Seashells Tell No Tales.

About the Book
A remote island with secrets that the waves and seashells don’t even dare whisper about.
Faith Marlowe never breaks a promise. Especially not a promise she made to her dying brother. Easier said than done when the promise includes taking care of an injured and embittered war vet. Not to mention having to hide who she truly is in order to keep her vow.
Army Ranger Vet, Gideon Sundquist (Sunny) doesn’t want help. He’s exiled on an island in the middle of the South Pacific and hiding from the world for a reason. However, losing both his legs forces him to accept care from a nurse. But if she—or anyone else for that matter—finds out about the black ops mission where he was injured, it could put all their lives at risk.
On a beautiful, remote island in the Pacific, Faith will try to teach Sunny to live again. But if the tales of their secrets are told, neither will see the sun rise in the Suamalie Islands again.
Take a trip to the Suamalie Islands where palm trees sway, the sand and sea pulse with life, and the people will steal your heart.
