Author: Meghann Whistler
Genre: Contemporary Christian Romance
Release date: October 11, 2021
He’s a billionaire hiding a devastating diagnosis. She’ll do whatever it takes to help her sick, matchmaking mom. A freak accident throws them together, but will his big secret tear them apart?
When Ryan Lawson’s business partners force him to go on a wilderness retreat to come to terms with a shocking diagnosis, the last thing on Ryan’s mind is romance. But when he’s stranded in the woods with a sweet young event planner, all thoughts of business take a back seat to her girl-next-door appeal.
Fresh off a bad breakup, Zara Georgopoulos comes to Vermont to help her terminally ill mom work through her bucket list—not fall in love with a man who’s the exact opposite of her usual type. But when Ryan starts working his way into her heart with his kindness and generosity, she needs to make a decision: Trust the biotech billionaire not to walk all over her, or go back to guarding her heart.
Stuck together in the wilds of Vermont, they forge a tenuous connection. When Ryan finally shares the truth about his illness, will it bring them closer together . . . or shatter Zara’s trust in him for good?
Inspired by 2 Corinthians 12:9, The Billionaire’s Secret is a sweet inspirational romance with a swoony hero, LOTS of entertaining banter, and a strong Christian message.

Interview with Meghann
Please welcome #1 bestselling author Meghann Whistler to the studio.
Hi, Meghann, thank you for joining me today.
Q: What genre do you write in and why?
A: Thanks for asking this question, because it lets me share a bit of my testimony. 🙂
Before we get to that, though, I need to share a confession: Until about four years ago, I’d never read a Christian romance novel. 😲
I’d read widely across many genres, but romance? Too risqué.
Then I went through a tough time in my personal life, and I started looking for books that would leave me feeling happy and uplifted. I ran a search for “Christian fiction” at my local library and just so happened to stumble across a Christian romance called Finding Her Way Home by Linda Goodnight.
I was hooked.
These stories weren’t about sex—they were about love. They were about people who were doing their best to honor God while also dealing with difficult circumstances.
They were about people like me.
I started reading Christian romance novels because I was feeling hopeless that I would ever find victory over a personal issue I had struggled with since I was a young girl. In my darkest moments, those books allowed me to forget about my troubles. They made me feel happy, and they gave me hope.
It wasn’t long before I began to wonder if maybe God had something for me to say, and I could write a Christian romance novel, too.
Q: Is there a genre you like to read but don’t see yourself writing?
A: I grew up reading a lot of science fiction and fantasy novels by authors like JRR Tolkien, Ursula Le Guin, Anne McAffrey, Guy Gavriel Kay, and George RR Martin.
I do still enjoy reading the occasional sci fi or fantasy novel (as long as they’re not too graphically violent!!!), but I like writing about things that could happen in the real world today.
Q: What was your favorite character to write?
A: I always fall in love with my heroes! So, in my new book, The Billionaire’s Secret, my favorite character to write was Ryan, the leading man.
Ryan is a billionaire who’s struggling to come to terms with a chronic, incurable medical diagnosis. I enjoyed writing about that struggle, and I especially enjoyed writing about his spiritual journey, which readers have said is “powerful.”
Above and beyond his struggles, Ryan is a genuinely good guy who’s kind, patient, and protective without being possessive or territorial. Here’s what a few readers have said about him:
- “He’s caring and others-centered…an all-around “nice guy” who also happens to be a billionaire.” (Heather, Goodreads)
- “Ryan is not your typical billionaire. His character is layered and relatable.” (Beth, Goodreads)
- “Ryan was such a humble, down-to-earth, wealthy guy that I couldn’t wait to see how his happily ever after was going to work out for him.” (Lisa, Goodreads)
I love writing heroes who make readers swoon!
Q: What is your favorite part of your newest released book?
A: Goodness! That’s a tough question! The ending was a ton of fun to write—who doesn’t love a happy ending? The bonus epilogue was fun, too—I loved imagining what was going on with my two main characters two years after the end of the book!
Overall, I’d have to say that my favorite part of The Billionaire’s Secret is when the hero and heroine are first getting to know each other. There’s a lot of entertaining banter that kept me amused as I wrote it!
Q: Are you at work on a new novel? Can you tell us a little about it?
A: Why, yes I am working on a new novel! It’s the second in my Sweet Boston Billionaires series, so the next one after The Billionaire’s Secret. It’s about Ryan’s business partner, Alan, and it’s titled, The Billionaire’s Secret Son. It will be coming out in 2022, so stay tuned!
Thank you for sharing your heart today, Meghann. I can’t wait to read The Billionaire’s Secret.
