Book Review – Let Them Eat Fruitcake by Kathleen J. Robison
Fruitcake gets a bad rap. I know there are some less than tasty ones out there, but my old friend’s recipe changed my mind. It had more fruit (with lots of nuts) and less cake. Delicious. I had the privilege of tasting the real fruitcake that author Kathleen J. Robison’s book, Let Them Eat Fruitcake, is all about. And it was also yummy. Very close to my friend’s.
So, set aside the jokes about this holiday concoction as you read how much an entire community loves grandma’s recipe and believes (or at least wants to) that her recipe has the magic to bring two individuals together in love.
The characters are fun and seem real with their personal struggles. You’ll love the small-town setting.
The author makes it clear that the Lord is the center of the characters’ thoughts and whatever “magic” may happen.
Well, I had some of that fruitcake last year and loved it! Just ordered Let Them Eat Fruitcake so I can read it from beginning to end on a cozy weekend. Thanks for sharing this, Susy!
It was delicious, wasn’t it? Maybe she’ll share some more this year. Light your fireplace and make yourself a cup of hot chocolate for your cozy weekend read. (You’re welcome.)
